Warren County approves multiple short-term tourist rental conditional-use permits; board grants setback waivers in several cases

The Warren County Board of Supervisors approved multiple conditional-use permits (CUPs) for short-term tourist rentals during its Oct. 7 meeting, voting on several agenda items that would allow newly purchased or recently completed dwellings to operate as short-term lodging with conditions recommended by planning staff and the planning commission.

Planning staff presented standard conditions applied to the permits: properties must comply with Warren County Health Department and building-inspection requirements; the health department determines maximum occupants; annual well testing for E. coli and coliform bacteria is required where applicable; and septic systems must be serviced as recommended by the health department (typically every five years). Where properties did not meet the county's 100-foot setback requirement from neighboring dwellings, applicants requested and the board granted waivers when supporting letters from adjacent owners were provided.
