Two Peaks Fitness reports membership growth, extended warranties and modest operating reserves

A representative of Two Peaks Fitness in Walsenburg presented the gym’s quarterly update to the Huerfano County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 23, reporting membership gains, equipment purchases and changes to hours.
The Two Peaks representative said the center received a recumbent bike ordered in January and later experienced a console failure on another piece of Life Fitness equipment. The gym purchased extended warranties so “all the Life Fitness equipment now has a 4 year total warranty.”
The representative said the gym expanded hours, opening at 4 a.m. beginning the previous week to accommodate early users. Membership totaled 122 in September, compared with 84 in September of the prior year; the speaker said about one-third of current memberships (42 of 122) are low-income reduced-rate memberships.
Usage also rose. The facility recorded 845 sign-ins in September, up from 525 in the previous September. The representative said the year-to-date average monthly membership is about 120.
On finances, the speaker said the operating account balance was discussed in the handout presented at the meeting; during the remarks the speaker first cited $28,295.24, then offered a corrected figure of $29,978.84 as the operating balance. The representative said the gym has met its recurring expenses and maintained a modest reserve for one-time costs such as equipment and warranties; the most recent new recumbent bike cost approximately $3,000 before tariffs.
Commissioners thanked the representative and noted positive community use of the facility in Walsenburg and La Veta. The representative said membership access policies differ by location, with weekday unlocked hours and member-code access outside those times at some sites.
The presentation was informational; no county funding decision or formal action was made during the meeting.
