At the Oct. 6 Select Board meeting Maureen Candido read a written certificate from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) notifying the board that the agency may acquire an interest in a parcel of land in Lakeville for conservation and/or recreation purposes.
The written notice (DCRP000776) describes a parcel of approximately 12.5 acres as shown on an attached map and referenced exhibit A. Candido read a statement noting that, on behalf of the Select Board, she agreed to waive the 120-day notice period described in the cited DCR regulation. The certificate lists an agency contact (aarontarrigni@mass.gov) for questions and notes that DCR will also notify related regional bodies and public officials.
Town staff and board members discussed the map during the meeting; staff indicated that a red parcel on the map appears to be already owned by DCR and that DCR is seeking to acquire an adjacent parcel or to reclassify an existing parcel'the notice did not provide further detail. The board asked staff to seek clarification from DCR during the 120-day notice window about the agency's intent and which state office holds title, and staff said DCR would be expected to answer such questions while the notice period is open.
No formal action was required or taken by the board beyond reading the certificate into the record.
