The Salem School Committee voted unanimously on a set of routine and administrative motions during its Oct. 6 meeting, including approval of the agenda, a consent agenda of minutes and trips, and a requested budget transfer.
Approval of the agenda: Member Miranda moved to approve the meeting agenda; Member Cornell seconded. The committee carried the motion by roll call with members voting yes, including Member Hoffman, Member Miranda, Member Cornell, Member Cruz and the chair.
Consent agenda: The committee approved the consent agenda — which included the Sept. 24 regular meeting minutes, a high‑school music field trip to Hershey (Philadelphia, Pa.), a varsity boys cross‑country trip to the Cape Cod Fairgrounds, and the Sept. 25, 2025 warrant — on a roll‑call vote. Motion made by Member Cornell and seconded by Member Miranda; voting members recorded yes votes from Member Hoffman, Member Miranda, Member Cornell, Member Cruz and the chair.
Budget transfer: The committee approved a requested intra‑budget transfer of $6,000 to move funds from a dual‑language stipends line to a dual‑language instructional supplies line. The district explained the transfer frees general‑fund stipend dollars to be charged instead to a grant that will subsidize stipends while leaving $6,000 available for non‑personnel supplies. Motion to approve the transfer was made by Member Cornell and seconded by Member Miranda. Roll‑call votes recorded yes from Member Miranda, Member Hoffman, Member Manning (who joined for the vote), Member Cornell, Member Cruz and the chair; the motion carried.
Adjournment: A motion to adjourn, moved by Member Miranda and seconded by Member Cornell, passed on roll call with yes votes from the members present.
Ending: These votes occurred during the same meeting that included a lengthy MCAS and accountability presentation; no policy changes or program adoptions were made as part of the recorded votes.
