The Visit St. Pete Clearwater chief executive officer provided organizational updates to the Tourist Development Council on Oct. 15, announcing staff promotions, a retirement and partnerships tied to upcoming marketing activity.
The CEO said Stephanie Priakos was promoted to director of meetings and conferences and Daniella Slater — previously an intern — was hired full time as destination experience manager, a new role combining community engagement and activations responsibilities. The council learned that Terry Tuxhorn, vice president of finance and administration for the organization and a county employee for 35 years, will retire at the end of the month. Tuxhorn addressed the council and thanked colleagues and county staff for their support.
The CEO said Frederica Collins, formerly deputy director of Pinellas County’s Office of Management and Budget, has been hired as Visit St. Pete Clearwater’s vice president of finance and administration to succeed Tuxhorn.
On marketing and promotion, the CEO highlighted a Visit Florida partnership that secured a takeover night on Wheel of Fortune, scheduled for the program’s broadcast tomorrow at 7 p.m., which will include a trip prize to the destination and local experiences such as a visit to Clearwater Marine Aquarium and a meal at a Saint Petersburg restaurant. The CEO also noted that the JW Marriott Clearwater Beach received recognition in Michelin’s hotel recommendations, becoming the county’s first Michelin-recommended hotel property.
The CEO closed with a list of upcoming local events: Clearwater Jazz Holiday (this week), John’s Pass Seafood Fest (end of month), King of the Beach fishing event (first weekend in November) and the Arnold Palmer Invitational–adjacent LPGA tournament (Anika LPGA) at Pelican in November.
