CDOT I-270 program staff told Adams County commissioners on Oct. 8 that the project's draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) is on track for publication in November and that the agency's preferred alternative calls for two general-purpose lanes plus one express/managed lane that can accommodate transit.
"The preferred alternative that we've identified is the 2 general purpose lanes and 1 express lane that accommodates transit alternative," said David Marenich, I-270 program director. He said the preferred alternative was selected because it accommodates transit and freight while allowing CTIO participation in project funding.
Marenich said CDOT is phasing the project so that critical bridges (BR2 through BR9) are designed and built first; those bridge phases are currently funded with state legislative dollars and Bridge and Tunnel Enterprise resources, he said. The bridge-first approach…
