Derek Oyler, identified in the meeting as city staff presenting the item, told the council the agreement establishes a three-year stepped payment schedule. “The mayor and I are pleased that we've come to an agreement with Perry City,” Oyler said, adding that the stepped financial consideration is linked to the consolidation feasibility master plan completed by Box Elder County.
The council discussed the item briefly and moved to approve the agreement. Councilmember Jensen moved approval; Councilmember Hipp seconded. The motion was approved by voice vote.
Oyler said the Brigham City Fire Department has served Perry City for many years and that the arrangement covers fire, medical/ambulance responses and the provision of the fire marshal function to Perry. He also said the interlocal will be on the Perry City Council agenda the following week.
Mayor (identified in the meeting as Dennis J. Baugh) publicly thanked Perry City officials and specifically thanked Bob Barnhill, Perry City manager, and Perry’s mayor for cooperating during negotiations. The mayor and council members described the talks as collaborative and noted informal meetings during the process.
