Clawson DDA promotes fall events, seeks volunteers; committees report progress

Promotions reported about 42 participating businesses for the October Trick & Treasure event and solicited roughly six volunteers to staff games at the pumpkin crawl scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25. Committee members described event details — pumpkin wrapping, quick trivia contests, a walk-the-plank challenge and themed activities at participating businesses — and asked for volunteer sign-ups to cover registration and game stations.
The organization committee said it has encountered scheduling and participation challenges and currently lacks a permanent chair; board members agreed to coordinate via email to prepare an agenda that could encourage more engagement.
The design committee reported regular walk-throughs of downtown to assess potential projects and called for brainstorming on priorities for the coming year. Committee members said design priorities should be aligned with the strategic plan and TIF-related work plans.
City administration reported several operational items: assembly of holiday snowflake decorations for the downtown, progress on a potential DDA website upgrade managed through the city’s contractor Revise, and an update that available “tech funds” can now be applied to qualifying projects (projects must be completed by an August deadline; board asked staff for specifics). Administration said it would return with a formal proposal for a website upgrade, including estimated costs and an annual maintenance option.
Committee leaders urged members to review materials that will inform the DDA’s upcoming work plans and strategic-plan assignments.
