Board approves bonuses for staff moved between schools, denies two legal transfer requests

The board said the intent of the original policy was to keep employees in the district; administrators recommended paying the bonuses to employees moved by district administration and the board approved that recommendation unanimously.
Separately, the board considered two legal-transfer requests from families whose students had been transported into the district but did not meet the district’s attendance policy last school year. Because the students were dropped for attendance and district high-school slots remain limited (the superintendent cited single-digit available spaces in some content areas and expected an influx of military families later in October), the superintendent recommended denying the transfers and the board voted unanimously to uphold that recommendation.
Votes: motion to approve bonus compensation for employees moved by district administration — passed unanimously. Motion to deny the two legal transfers as recommended by administration — passed unanimously.
