Planning commission moves to second-Tuesday schedule for 2026

The Minot Planning Commission voted Oct. 7 to move its regular meetings to the second Tuesday of each month for the coming year.
Staff said the change would reduce conflicts with City Council scheduling, give staff an extra week to prepare council packets and avoid frequent rebounds of the commission into midweek dates. Staff presented two proposed schedules (second Monday or second Tuesday) and recommended adopting the second-Tuesday schedule so staff could meet city-council packet deadlines without submitting items to council before the commission reviewed them.
Commissioner Baumann moved to adopt the second-Tuesday schedule; Commissioner Mennum seconded. The motion carried unanimously on roll call.
Staff said one exception would be a September meeting that would need to move to a Wednesday; staff and commissioners also noted election-day and holiday scheduling when discussing the calendar. The change is intended to improve packet timing and reduce conflicts with City Council.”
