During a recess into the Board of Equalization, the commission considered hearing officer recommendations on a slate of property tax appeals.
Mike Wilkins presented the hearing officer’s recommendations and said three appeals should be dismissed because the appellants did not provide documentation: appeal 2025-28 (serial number 050200101), appeal 2025-29 (serial number 050120203) and appeal 2025-30 (serial number 050120209). Wilkins said the hearing officer recommended dismissal for those three appeals.
Wilkins reported that the hearing officer upheld the county’s valuation on several other parcels, including appeal number 2025-27 (serial number 041130235) and multiple serial numbers in the 050410 series (including 050410106, 050410107 and 050410108), as well as serial number 050780023 and others listed in the hearing record. Wilkins told the commission that property owners whose appeals were upheld retain the right to appeal to the State.
A commissioner moved that the commission accept the hearing officer’s recommendations (dismiss the three appeals lacking documentation and uphold the county valuations on the others). The motion passed on the vote.
The Board of Equalization adjourned and the regular commission meeting resumed. The county clerk also reminded attendees that ballots for ongoing elections have been mailed and must be received in the county clerk’s office by election day to be counted; postmarks are no longer accepted.
