The Uintah County Commission approved a memorandum of agreement between the Utah State Library and the Uintah County Library for participation in the Beehive Library Consortium’s OverDrive digital-content platform for 2026.
The library presenter, identified as Karen, said the county’s contribution is $11,808.94. She explained the fee was calculated from local circulation (108,547 items) as a share of consortium circulation (7,034,987 items), yielding about 1.54% of the total consortium budget. The agreement covers Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026; the deadline for county approval is Oct. 31, 2025. Karen said termination can be enacted by either party with 60 days’ written notice and that OverDrive will invoice the library directly.
Karen described the benefits as shared digital books, audiobooks and magazines, platform maintenance and training provided by the state, and MARC records for catalog integration. A commissioner moved to approve the memorandum and authorize the Uintah County Library director to sign; the motion passed on the vote.
The approval permits the county library to participate in the consortium for 2026 and obligates the county to pay the stated share; staff said platform administrative fees are covered by the state library and that the county’s cost is proportional to local usage.
