Michigan House passes series of bills on natural resources, trust fund and road classification; several take immediate effect

Lansing — The Michigan House passed a package of senate bills on Oct. 2, 2025, taking final passage votes on legislation affecting natural resources, drinking water, the Michigan Trust Fund and the classification of public roads. Several bills were ordered to take immediate effect.

Key final passage votes recorded on the floor:

- Senate Bill 579 (amendments to the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act): passed 104-5 on third reading. Floor record: clerk announced 104 aye, 5 nay.

- Senate Bill 273 (amendments to the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act): passed 107-2 on third reading; the majority floor leader moved and members ordered immediate effect.
