Surry County commissioners approve consent agenda including insurance renewal, ROAP agreement and deputy finance officer appointment

The Surry County Board of Commissioners approved a multi-item consent agenda Oct. 6 that included a mix of administrative items and one add-on appointment.

County Manager Chris Knott introduced the items for the consent agenda: a Red Ribbon Week proclamation; the annual health insurance renewal reviewed by the insurance and benefits committee; a finance SKE contract; the 2026 holiday schedule mirroring the state's adopted holidays; a position reclassification in inspections; Budget Amendment No. 5 related to an insurance claim in the sheriff's office; the Rural Operating Assistance Program (ROAP) agreement for DOT funds; and an added appointment of a deputy finance officer in the finance office.
