Hooper City Council members agreed at their Oct. 2 work meeting to change the city's primary web domain from hoopercity.gov to hooperut.gov.
Staff said the city's web designer recommended adding a state identifier because multiple municipalities in the United States share the name "Hooper City" and web searches can return other jurisdictions. "If you're agreeable with that then, we'll go ahead and have her change that," the mayor said; council members responded in favor of the simpler hooperut.gov option.
Staff also noted that the city's email addresses had recently moved to the .gov domain and that the domain update would align email and website naming. The change is an administrative update handled by city IT and the web contractor; no formal ordinance or council vote was required.
Ending: Staff will proceed with the domain change to hooperut.gov and update web and email references accordingly.
