Council member Andre Byrd moved to place Medrano on the ballot “with all of our full support and all of our votes,” the motion was seconded by Council member Deborah North, and the motion passed 5–1.
City staff explained each taxing unit may nominate up to two candidates and described the timeline: nominations submitted to the chief appraiser by Oct. 25, ballots distributed by Oct. 30, and councils to cast votes by Dec. 15. Medrano is an incumbent and council members cited familiarity with her work as a reason to support her nomination.
