Lincolnville CRA reports $287,000 spent on eight Fix It Up grants in FY2025; program to expand to West City

Jill Collins, Neighborhood Services and CRA administrative coordinator, presented the end-of-year recap for the Fix It Up housing grant program.
Collins reported that in fiscal year 2025 the program completed eight projects and expended $287,000. This was the program’s first full year operating with a $100,000 per-project cap. She described a Park Place project that required a revised scope when piers that were expected to be leveled instead required replacement; that project used $96,000 and is the largest investment to date under the program.
Other highlighted projects included a follow-on Douro Street project for a previous recipient and a second-phase Wheaton Street project that addressed an emergency tree extraction, repaired wood siding, poured a driveway, replaced an HVAC system and completed interior work.
Collins said five recipients remained on the waitlist and are expected to account for about $213,000 in the new fiscal year; she also said new applications were coming in since the presentation was prepared. Committee members praised outreach and the program’s impact for older homeowners and residents.
Next steps: continue outreach, manage the waitlist and use the program model to support a forthcoming similar program in West City; staff will continue casework with applicants and verify completed work.
