Councilwoman Mosby told the Common Council on Oct. 6 that she intends to leave the council after 18 years to take a position leading Evansville Animal Control.
"I love Evansville. And it is emotional because it's been 18 years," Mosby said at the meeting. "My passion is ... for the animals of our city and for the city of Evansville; this is gonna be a great fit and I'm excited to work with Mayor Terry and the rest of the team, to bring Evansville Animal Control up to the standards that we want it to be."
Fellow council members offered praise at the meeting. One colleague told Mosby she could not imagine anyone more suited for the role and thanked her for her service. President Trotman and other council members also thanked Mosby for her years on the council and wished her well in the new position.
Mosby said she will continue to be available to council members and that she looks forward to working with the council from the administrative side to improve animal control services. Several council members said they expect to coordinate with Mosby in the next budget cycle and beyond.
The announcement was made during the council's opening remarks; no formal personnel appointment vote was recorded in the meeting minutes transcribed here. Council members indicated follow-up and coordination with Mayor Terry's office and the administration would continue outside the meeting record.
Mosby's statement, colleagues' remarks and references to future collaboration were recorded on the Oct. 6 transcript.
