E.B. Frank Middle School rebuild advances; contractors report excavation, geothermal work and foundations underway

District construction staff gave the board an on‑site update Oct. 8 on the E.B. Frank Middle School replacement project, reporting visible progress since construction began July 14.
Presenters said contractors under Metcon have been on site for more than 50 days of the planned roughly 600‑day schedule. Work completed in August and September included site excavation, drilling for geothermal wells, installation of two culverts at the driveway entrance, stormwater system installation around the building pad, an extended sanitary sewer to the property line, foundation layout and initial footing pours in area 600.
Staff noted that August heat created challenging working conditions but said crews persevered. The district said it expects additional footing pours and site preparation in coming weeks and that a live camera of the site will be activated once an internet connection is installed. The presentation included an organizational chart for the project and named the district construction manager and contractors who are coordinating the work.
Board members were invited to schedule site visits; the district said staff would facilitate tours. Presenters asked board members to notify district staff if they wanted to visit while crews continue early phases of the project.
