Residents press Grand Island board for action on Staley Road work and activity at 3012 Staley Road

Multiple residents described heavy site activity at 3012 Staley Road. Sherry Kern, who said she attended the zoning-board meeting and collected letters opposing a variance for 3012, said she has drone photographs that show what she described as excavation and truck activity. "It looks like dirt being removed...I have the pictures," Kern said during public comment. Kern asked what property work is legally allowed.
Mary Falls, who said she lives at 3013 Staley Road (kitty-corner to 3012), told the board neighbors are concerned because, she said, the owner (identified by residents as the person behind Buffalo Biodiesel) has been ordered by an authority abbreviated in comments as "DC" to shut down for permit lapses and has been the subject of consumer suits. Falls said she has observed numerous dump trucks and a gravel road to the back of the site and expressed concern about possible impacts to wetlands.
Board members responded with procedural guidance rather than immediate enforcement action. Councilman Kilmer advised residents to file reports with Ron, the town's code-enforcement officer: "If you see something that doesn't seem right, come to Ron. He's our code enforcement guy. Tell him what's going on," Kilmer said, adding that reports typically prompt follow-up. Councilman Garcia noted a speed-monitoring box remains on Staley Road and asked staff to provide an update.
