Pennridge to study middle‑school block schedule in 2025–26; possible launch 2027–28

Jennifer Bloom, director of teaching and learning for Pennridge School District, provided a status update on middle‑school scheduling work.
Bloom said a district‑level committee that began work last year recommended studying a shift to a middle‑school block schedule. She said the 2025–26 school year will be used for planning considerations including staffing, course offerings, professional development, fiscal impacts, space and resource allocation. Bloom said the district will return to the board near the end of the 2025–26 school year with findings and recommendations so the board can decide whether to proceed.
If the board approves, staff said the 2026–27 school year would be used for course realignment and teacher professional development to prepare for a potential full launch in 2027–28. Bloom emphasized the committee will assess the fiscal feasibility and space implications and that any board asks will be presented with details.
