Road department reports maintenance progress; chip-seal cost about $29,658 per mile, striping set for Oct. 18

Staff said crews returned to work on Bladen Road and performed repairs on washouts and graveling on several local roads, including Pleasant View. The crew reported continuing to blade roads and clean culverts ahead of winter.
Staff said striping is scheduled for Oct. 18 and that the contractor (referred to in the workshop as Stripes a Lot or Branson) is lined up to do the work. Road staff reported the cost for a single-layer chip seal this year was $29,657.98 per mile.
Commissioners asked about a longstanding traffic-safety concern on Lebanon Road where a resident had requested stop signs and chevrons; staff said the traffic engineer previously proposed chevrons and staff will check the status and follow up. No formal decisions or expenditures were made at the workshop; staff said they would check on the signage and report back.
Workshop remarks were discussion only and staff did not request an immediate board action.
