The Nevada Community School District Board of Education voted Oct. 6 to award a three-year snow-removal contract to Construct covering fiscal years 2026, 2027 and 2028.
District staff told the board they solicited bids from multiple vendors but received a single responsive proposal from Construct. The board moved and seconded approval of the Construct bid proposal as submitted; the motion passed on an "Aye" vote.
During discussion, staff said pricing had risen slightly compared with prior years. Board discussion noted that the district spent "just a little over $23,000" on snow and ice removal last year while the district budgeted $30,000 for the line item. The board also referenced that three pieces of district equipment had been marked out of service due to high mileage in recent inspections, and trustees said they would monitor vehicle replacement needs in the coming fiscal cycle.
A staff member identified as Vince was reported to have sent the solicitation to five vendors with only Construct returning a bid. Board members described Construct's work history with the district as positive; one board member said Construct has been careful around concrete and has avoided damaging curbs, which the board said reduces long-term pavement repair costs.
The district did not disclose the annual contract dollar amount during the public meeting. The motion approved the Construct bid proposal for the 2026–2028 school years as presented to the board.
