Goose Creek CISD reports sharp AVID enrollment growth, highlights college-readiness gains

Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District officials on Oct. 6 told the Board of Trustees that the district’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program has expanded districtwide and is showing measurable college‑readiness outcomes.
Kendall David, executive director of community engagement and one of the district AVID directors, said AVID is now implemented at all five high schools, six junior highs and one elementary campus and that elective enrollment has climbed 147% since 2019. "Fifty‑three percent of all AVID students, sixth through twelfth grade, are currently taking at least one dual credit or AP course," David told trustees.
