Henry County approves DHS transit contract for FY26 and signs on to seek FY27 GDOT rural transit funds

The Board approved a DHS FY26 contract allocating $420,789.89 for transportation services for elderly and disabled residents, with an in‑kind match reported at $2,155.52 provided by transit driver labor. Transit staff said that in‑kind matches would be met through existing driver labor and routine operations.
Separately, commissioners authorized staff to apply for the FY27 GDOT 5311 operating assistance program. Staff reported Henry County’s anticipated FY27 operating allocation at $384,134, to be split evenly between federal funds ($192,067) and a local match ($192,067) drawn from the county’s operating budget. County staff noted Henry County has participated in the 5311 rural program for 36 years.
