The Trenton City Council opened a public hearing at 6:47 p.m. on Monday to consider a written request for establishment of a commercial rehabilitation district for property at 3360 West Jefferson Avenue (Parcel ID 54-015-01-0008-000). The hearing was adjourned without oral or written comments recorded on the Zoom feed, and the council later scheduled a public hearing for 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, ahead of the council’s regular meeting.
City staff referenced Public Act 210 of 2005 (as cited during the meeting) as the enabling authority for commercial rehabilitation districts and reported that the application materials and district requirements had been reviewed. The city attorney stated the application and record indicated the statutory prerequisites had been met and recommended the council proceed with the prescribed hearing and notice process.
No written comments were received before the Oct. 6 hearing, and no members of the public provided oral remarks during the initial hearing. Council members moved and supported scheduling a follow-up public hearing on Oct. 14 to consider the application further and to ensure required notice and comment opportunities.
The Oct. 14 public hearing is intended to “entertain views and comments from interested individuals regarding the written request,” per the clerk’s published notice. Interested parties who cannot attend may submit written comments to the city clerk at City Hall, 2800 Third Street.
