District leaders told trustees the change is intended to reduce route conflicts and allow the same bus fleet to run multiple routes safely and on schedule. Chief operations staff said the district runs about 603 bus routes and travels roughly 1,900 miles daily to serve students; those constraints drove the timing decisions.
