Committee holds Mad Elephant mechanical-amusement license appeal until Dec. 10 after on-site review scheduled

The Safety and Licensing Committee for the City of Appleton voted unanimously on Oct. 22 to hold an appeal of a mechanical amusement device license application for Mad Elephant until its Dec. 10 meeting, after the city attorney and police said they will review the machines in operation.
Attorney Berwin told the committee he and Lieutenant Gooden will meet with the applicant and their representative to review the devices in operation on the morning of Nov. 4 and will return to the committee with findings. The request to hold the appeal was moved and seconded at the Oct. 22 meeting and passed 5-0.
The matter, recorded on the agenda as item 25-1091, concerns a mechanical amusement device license for Mad Elephant, agent Jitma Wang, located at 1222 S. Oneida St. The committee did not take a final licensing action at the Oct. 22 hearing; instead it directed staff to complete the on-site review and report back at the Dec. 10 Safety and Licensing meeting.
Ending Staff from legal services and the Appleton Police Department are scheduled to inspect the machines Nov. 4; the applicant may expect the committee to consider a final recommendation at the Dec. 10 meeting.
