The Idaho Falls City Council on Oct. 23 authorized the final purchase of two 2025 Northstar ambulances from Braun Northwest Inc. for a total of $566,202, and authorized the mayor to sign the purchase documents.
Municipal Services Director Cam Alexander told the council the units had been pre-ordered because of long lead times (12–18 months). The vehicles are identified in the packet as units 8801 and 8004 and are funded through the municipal equipment replacement program. In the meeting packet staff included invoices and noted the vehicles were ready for pickup.
Council members briefly discussed procurement practice around preorders and noted staff will bring the topic for clarification at a future work session so the council agrees on consistent language and process for approving preorders and then final purchases when equipment arrives.
The motion to approve the final purchase passed unanimously by roll call vote.
