The Board approved change order number 2 for Calvert Elementary School's HVAC and partial reroofing project, reducing the project total by $28,226 to $2,811,282.40. The project is substantially complete and the credit will be held within CCPS funds and earmarked for other projects.
The Calvert County Board of Education approved change order number 2 Tuesday for the Calvert Elementary School HVAC and partial reroofing project, which reduces the contract price by $28,226 and leaves the final contract value at $2,811,282.40.
Shachita Warner, director of planning and construction, told the board the change order reflects credits from the project’s unit price schedule and that a roof drain replacement and some nailer repairs were outside the original base scope. She said most of the unit schedule amounts were unused and were returned to the district via the credit.
Warner said the project is substantially complete. After a motion and second, the board approved the change order by voice vote, 5–0.
Warner explained that change orders are funded from local government allocations and that the credited amount will remain in Calvert County Public Schools’ funds and be earmarked for other capital projects through coordination with county finance. Whether public hearings are required for reallocation depends on the size of the future appropriation, Warner said.
Board members asked where other potential project change orders stood; Warner said PCOs 1–3 were incorporated in change order number 1 and there are no other outstanding PCOs for this contract.
The board’s action updates the previously approved project total from $2,839,508.40 to $2,811,282.40 and completes the contract paperwork for the Calvert Elementary work.
