Council considered Resolution 25-2033, accepting the art installation donation funded by the local garden tour. Project organizer Ross and others described a community mosaic workshop that produced elements for the work and said the bench footing has been poured and installation was tentatively scheduled for Oct. 24 with a dedication on Oct. 25 at 10 a.m.
The city will own the installed piece, authorities said, and the artist will provide a maintenance plan before final payment. Council members asked about copyright and relocation rights; staff said the artist retains copyright, and any future relocation or sale would require the artist’s approval under the donation agreement.
Council suspended the three-touch rule to consider and adopt the resolution at the same meeting; the resolution passed unanimously.
Ending: Council members encouraged more public art in the city and discussed reviving the one-percent-for-art practice for future projects. The city plans a public dedication ceremony on Oct. 25 if installation proceeds as scheduled.
