Resident urges county to clarify water-supply assurances for towns amid data-center development

A Louisa County resident raised concerns at the Oct. 20 Board of Supervisors meeting about whether the county has adequate water supplies to support approved data centers and local towns.
Vicky Hart of Louisa (public comment) told the board that Henrico County recently could not withdraw water from the James River due to low river levels and that the nearby 15-million-gallon reservoir there is used to pump water back into the river when levels are low. Hart asked whether the county—s water tanks are large enough to supply data centers approved for use and expressed concern that Northeast Creek is the sole supply for the town of Louisa and an occasional source for the town of Mineral when their wells fail.
"Right now, we have no assurance that water is provided to our locality," Hart said, and asked the county to provide documentation that residents will have a stable water supply.
