City introduces new urban forest planner Sam Kult at tree-board meeting

City staff introduced Sam Kult as Lake Forest Park’s new urban forest planner during the tree board meeting. Kult told members he has more than a month on the job and described prior experience as an arborist for utility vegetation and work with parks and natural-area organizations in the Chicago area and Puget Sound.
“Good evening, everybody. My name is Sam Kult. I’m the urban forest planner for Lake Forest Park. Started the position about, say, a little over a month now. I’ve been really enjoying it, and I’m excited to be here,” Kult said, summarizing his background in utility vegetation and municipal arboriculture.
Staff and board members said Kult will be the primary staff liaison for the SFI scope-of-work tasks, for coordinating with KCD mapping work, and for outreach activities. Kult described steps he had taken to assemble existing city documents and said he would work with consultants, volunteers and public-works GIS staff as projects move forward.
The board welcomed Kult and discussed regular handoffs of administrative tasks as he assumes liaison duties for the tree board.
