The Port Washington Common Council approved an infrastructure and public‑utility easement agreement with Northpointe Group LLC and a separate easement with We Energies to allow sanitary sewer and water lines to cross We Energies property and serve the Highland Point North subdivision.
City staff said Newman Development is financing the sanitary and water extensions; the developer will construct the pipelines and dedicate the facilities to the city. Staff noted the lines must cross the Interurban trail and that construction coordination and final methods will be directed by engineering plans. Councilors asked staff to confirm construction methods to minimize disruption to the recently paved trail.
In separate business the council accepted insurer advice and disallowed a notice of claim for damages submitted by Cynthia Collins, following a recommendation from the city insurer, which had investigated the claim and recommended denial.
Why it matters: The easement approvals enable planned residential development and associated infrastructure work. The claim decision closes a pending liability matter for the city pending no additional legal action by the claimant.
The easement with Northpointe had been signed by the parties before the meeting; staff reported the signed copy was received the previous day. The We Energies easement allows necessary crossings for sewer and water mains; Newman Development is responsible for pipeline construction costs.
