Library board seeks volunteers to update strategic plan and for capital-facilities committee

Jenny told the board the library’s strategic plan shows dates of 2020–2024 and needs an update. She asked for two board members to work with library staff to draft a new five-year plan and said she hopes the working group can present a recommended update for full-board adoption next spring.
"I'm hoping to solicit some help from the board, maybe 2 members who can work on this a little bit in detail more in detail with me and Mikaela," Jenny said. She said the library has recent community feedback from surveys sent in August 2024 and August 2025 that staff plan to use in the update.
Separately, Jenny relayed a request from city staff asking for two volunteers from the library board to serve on the city's 20-year capital-facilities planning committee; initial meetings are scheduled to occur before Thanksgiving and again in January. Board members were asked to consider the request and respond by email once staff circulate the committee details.
The board agreed to identify working-group participants and to schedule a small number of focused meetings rather than a large retreat; no formal vote was taken at the October meeting.
