Friends funding supports several library programs, the board said, including the BookPage monthly magazine subscription available at the library’s front desk, museum-pass programs (the Mobius Museum Pass and the MAC pass), summer reading performers and program supplies. A board member said the Friends typically contribute about $7,500 annually to supplement library programming.
Board members noted Friends-sponsored symphony ticket nights, where the Friends and the symphony split tickets so residents can request multiple seats. The Friends also volunteer at events such as seasonal children’s programs.
No formal actions or votes related to the Friends were taken at the meeting; board members will address officers and fundraiser logistics at the November meeting.
