Board approves Johnston Road PUD after developer shrinks lots, expands buffer and agrees to turn-lane work

The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a proposed planned unit development (PUD) at 2098 Johnston Road after the developer revised the site plan to address neighbors' concerns about density, drainage and screening.
The developer reduced the plan from 82 to 74 lots and eliminated the previously proposed 70-foot-wide lots, adding 90-foot lots on cul-de-sacs nearest existing homes to the north. County planners described a strengthened western buffer that, in places, provides more than 100 feet of separation between new lots and existing Johnston Road properties, and enlarged retention ponds with littoral plantings.
