Members of the Miami Lakes Educational Advisory Board said Monday they will participate in the town’s Veterans Day parade on Nov. 2 and discussed how the board will be represented.
Board members said the parade begins at 10 a.m.; participants should plan to check in by about 9:30 a.m., and some members recommended arriving as early as 8:30 a.m. to receive lineup numbers. The committee discussed using a decorated golf cart to carry members — carts typically seat four in front and may fit two additional riders in the back — and agreed on red, white and blue decorations. Members said an online application is required to participate.
The group discussed banners and a simple design. One member volunteered to prepare an "Educational Advisory Board" banner with small book motifs; members discussed providing candy and flowers and coordinating volunteers from school clubs as the parade routes past town locations.
At the Oct. 20 meeting two members confirmed they would attend and others said they would check availability. No formal vote or permit submission was recorded during the meeting; members said they will complete the online application and coordinate vehicle decoration in the coming days.
