Two residents used the Common Council public-comment period on Oct. 21 to address a recent Facebook post by Alderman Rico Camacho.
Kevin Riley, of 430 Prospect Avenue, said he was disappointed by the post, told the council he had spoken with Camacho and that Camacho had apologized and removed the post. Riley added he has heard fear in Waukesha’s Hispanic and immigrant communities and said he understood that concern may have motivated Camacho’s post.
Alfredo “Alfie” Garcia of 812 Chicago Avenue said he was likewise disappointed by how the information surfaced but praised Camacho for owning the mistake and apologizing. Garcia said he believes Camacho did not intend to hurt anyone and commended the council’s work this year on park maintenance and flood recovery.
The remarks came during the meeting’s public comment portion; no formal council action related to the post was recorded in the transcript.
