Tucumcari — The commission approved a vendor agreement with ARI Graphics & Signs of Albuquerque to fabricate and install wayfinding signs for a downtown-to-destination plan after the city failed to receive bids in two solicitations.
Staff said the city issued two invitations for bid and received no responsive offers; state procurement rules allowed staff to go to market and negotiate a contract. ARI agreed to deliver fabrication and installation not to exceed $121,000, an amount consistent with the grant the city reported receiving for the project.
City staff explained the grant funded arrival and confirmation signage but did not include larger digital kiosks the city had requested in the original application. "We were not awarded funding for kiosks," a staff presenter said, and commissioners were told the city had asked for $250,000 initially but received an award near $121,000.
Staff said most signs will attach to existing signposts and poles and that the vendor will coordinate installation with public works and Department of Defense approvals where required for signs on federal property.
The commission approved the contract by roll call.
