The Gage County Board of Equalization approved a tax exemption for a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Christ Community Church during a public hearing Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The board opened the public hearing at about 8:37 a.m. and heard that the vehicle is used for “transporting members and guests to religious activities or for church volunteer ministries.” No members of the public spoke on the request. Dorn moved to approve the exemption and Claybaugh seconded; the board voted five in favor and the motion carried.
The exemption was considered under the board’s routine public-hearing process for qualifying nonprofit vehicles. Board members asked clarifying questions about the vehicle’s stated use but did not receive or record any public opposition during the hearing. The presiding officer closed the hearing and the board formalized the approval on a 5-0 vote.
The board also approved routine agenda items and the minutes of the previous meeting at the start of the session. The meeting began at 8:35 a.m.; one member, Jergens, was recorded as absent.
