The Gage County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 17 accepted and awarded the county's 2025-26 snow-removal contract to Beatrice Lawn Care.
Staff read the bid into the record and the board discussed whether additional bids had been solicited; staff said the bid had been advertised but only one formal response was submitted. Road and building staff described line items on the bid form; for example the contractor listed a lump-sum price of $725 for removal of snow accumulations less than six inches at the courthouse site.
Supervisor Lytle moved to accept and award the bid to Beatrice Lawn Care; Supervisor Jurgens seconded and the motion passed 7-0. Supervisors noted that while they prefer competitive bidding, the county had only the one formal proposal for this season. Staff said they would have the contractor proceed and monitor performance; the board asked staff to continue outreach to encourage more bidders in future seasons.
The board recorded the vote and closed the timed bid event. No contract documents were read into the record beyond the bid form items presented during the meeting.
