The manager explained the county updates the plan every five years, incorporates local input and submits the package to FEMA for approval.
The council approved a request from the Richmond Lions Club to conduct its annual Goodfellow paper sale on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at the intersections of Main and Division and County Line and Sinkler Highway. The Lions agreed not to station volunteers at the Main/Division intersection on Friday, Dec. 5, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and to sign a liability waiver.
Council also approved the Santa parade route on Main Street from Forest Park Street with the community tree lighting at the Veterans Memorial Pocket Park, and authorized the city clerk to apply to the Michigan Department of Transportation for the road closure and event banner. The council approved a special-event application for three mobile food vendors (snack-type foods) to operate in the municipal lot from 2 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6 and a separate application to allow up to 12 vendors and five sheds in the municipal lot from 2 to 9 p.m.
