“I walked into the gym. I started picking up trash off the floor. I started picking up pencils off the floor,” Jenny Woodstreet told the meeting. She said flyers had been distributed for a coat drive but the gym appeared “filthy” and that a young child picked up a discarded drink from the bleachers.
Woodstreet asked district leaders to publish a district‑wide activity/events calendar so volunteers and parents can avoid conflicts and know when schools expect visitors. She also urged morning walk‑throughs by building staff to pick up obvious trash before events.
Receiver Nichols apologized to parents and said a foreman had recently been hired in facilities and that the district aimed to “raise the bar.” “That is unacceptable. I apologize that you, students, parents, community members had to deal with that because that's not the reflection we want,” the receiver said.
The meeting record shows no formal board action on maintenance procedures or calendar implementation; district officials said they would address the concerns and follow up.
