Commission approves dog grooming salon at 300 Industrial Parkway, Unit J

The Planning Commission approved an application from Heather Scott to open a dog grooming salon at 300 Industrial Parkway, Unit J.

Scott described the operation as appointment-driven grooming and said she had opened her current salon last November. She told commissioners she plans to run private appointments and to install partitions so grooming of different-size dogs can be separated. “I have 2 groomers I've just hired. I'll be hiring 2 bathers, possibly 1 more groomer,” Scott said.

Commissioners focused on parking and building layout. Staff and commissioners noted village-wide parking pressure in the village and urged Scott to secure contract language or otherwise pin down parking arrangements with the property manager. Scott said most customers “stop and drop off” and that grooming is typically a short in-and-out visit; she described a workflow where the salon texts customers when a pet is ready and most clients do not remain on site.

There were questions about the unit layout and which doors serve which units; Scott and staff clarified which doors access Unit J and which belong to adjacent units. After the discussion a motion to approve was made and seconded; the roll call recorded affirmative votes from commissioners and the application was granted.

The approval covers the dog grooming use for Unit J subject to standard permitting and the applicant’s commitments about appointment-only operations and planned interior partitions. Commissioners advised Scott to document parking arrangements in writing with the landlord.
