Committee advances two‑year lease extension for transportation facility at 275 New Jersey Drive
Summary
The finance committee advanced a tentative two‑year lease extension for the district’s transportation facility at 275 New Jersey Drive, with a one‑year option; the amendment would add 1% annual rent increases, and staff said operating costs raise the full facility cost to about $500,000 per year when utilities and taxes are included.

The Upper Dublin School District Finance Committee on Sept. 17 moved to forward a tentative two‑year lease extension with a one‑year option for the district’s transportation facility at 275 New Jersey Drive to the next legislative meeting for final approval.
Staff said the current lease for the transportation facility expires June 30, 2026, and that the proposed amendment would extend the lease two years with a one‑year option to extend through a third year if the district notifies the owner by Dec. 31, 2027. District staff said the amendment includes a 1% annual rent increase; current annual rent was described in the packet as “a little over $346,000.” Staff emphasized that the lease payment is only one component of operating the facility: utilities, heating and the district’s share of property taxes raise the district’s total annual facility cost to about $500,000.
Why it matters: the extension provides short‑term stability while the district continues long‑term site analysis with its broker (Avison Young). Staff said the two‑year term with a third‑year option gives time to complete site planning without having to relocate the transportation operation midplanning.
The finance committee moved the amendment ahead to the next legislative meeting for board action.
