District reports mixed results from summer school; enrollment rose but cost and staffing concerns remain

They reported current pay rates of about $32 per hour for instruction and about $27 per hour for enrichment positions, with prep time currently included in the overall rate. Committee members suggested revisiting compensation for preparation time and comparing neighboring districts’ pay to ensure competitiveness.
Staff recommended continuing the current model with adjustments: revisit site structure to address low-enrollment inefficiencies, consider marketing to grow enrollment, and analyze prep-pay options before the next summer.
