The Provo City Council voted unanimously to approve a resolution appropriating $520,620.12 to the city’s golf course fund, providing the budget authority associated with a lease for golf course maintenance equipment that had been previously approved by the council.
Kelsey (last name not specified in the meeting), division finance staff, explained that the council had approved the lease in June but the associated appropriation was not explicitly documented. “Back in June, the council approved a lease for golf course maintenance equipment… and then we went to go add the budget, and we realized that the lease resolution didn't have a line in there saying that the council also appropriated budget in association with that lease,” Kelsey said. The currently proposed resolution supplies that budget authority and was characterized as completing necessary budget paperwork rather than creating a new spending authorization.
No public comment was offered on the item. During the roll call vote, Councilor Garrett, Councilor McKay, Councilor Christiansen, Councilor Handley, Councilor Bogdan and Councilor Whipple all voted yes. The motion passed 6–0 with Councilor Hoban excused.
