The Utah State Board of Education assessment team said it has published a set of parent resources on its assessment webpages for RISE, UA Plus (Aspire Plus), Acadience Reading, ACT and WIDA.
Staff told assessment directors the resources include short informational videos and sample parent notification letters intended to help parents understand what each assessment measures, how to read result reports and why the state administers the tests.
Why it matters: staff said clearer communication to families can improve understanding of assessment results and may reduce the number of opt‑outs. Assessment directors were asked to share the resources with building administrators, teachers and families.
Details from staff remarks:
- Links to the videos and sample parent letters are available on the USBE assessment pages for each vendor or assessment program.
- Staff asked districts to distribute the materials to school administrators and parents; they reminded directors that beginning‑of‑year Acadience reading notifications are due Oct. 30 for districts that administer that measure.
The assessment office said it will continue adding and updating parent resources and encouraged directors to contact assessment staff with questions about using the materials.
