Montgomery EDC approves up to $850,000 for city wayfinding signs and authorizes contract signing pending council approval

The Montgomery Economic Development Corporation on Oct. 21, 2025 approved a resolution authorizing an expenditure not to exceed $850,000 for the design, fabrication and installation of city wayfinding signage and voted to authorize the city administrator to sign a contract with the selected vendor, LED Partners, contingent on city council approval.

The board opened a public hearing on the signage project, heard no public comment and closed the hearing before taking action. Staff reported three bids were received; the board selected a vendor after staff review and recommended the resolution for council consideration. The EDC’s action sends the signed resolution to the city council for final approval and directs that the contract signing by the city administrator remain contingent on council approval at the council meeting scheduled for Nov. 10, 2025.

Board members noted staff would tidy up a few items in the procurement documents before final execution. Staff also said the procurement would follow the required notice period: the city will complete the newspaper notice and allow the 60-day statutory period before initiating the project; staff anticipates starting physical work early in the following year after council approval and notice requirements are met.

Formal action on the resolution and on the authorization to sign the contract were both taken at the meeting and were approved by voice vote with no recorded roll-call results in the transcript. The EDC instructed staff to return the final contract documents and any remaining clarifications to the board and city council before project initiation.

The votes on these items will be forwarded to the city council for final expenditure approval, and the resolution will be signed by EDC officials before that council consideration.
